Record Setting Weekend for Gigovic at Pro Series USA

It was a Record setting weekend for Killarney’s Matea Gigovic at the TYR Pro Swim Series in Westmont, IL USA. The meet attracted World Record Holders and Olympic Champions. Gigovic competing under the Team Canada Cap, had four events on the schedule.
Matea’s first event was 100 Free. She advanced to the B Final finishing 16th overall. On Day 2, Gigovic set AB Age Group 16-year-old Provincial Record (and KSC record) in the 50 Fly Prelims. In the Finals she broke the 16-year-old Record again and took down the AB OPEN Record with a time of 26.50. Matea finished 6th. In the 100 Fly Gigovic finished 5th and later that night won the 50 Freestyle C Final.
Head Coach Mike Meldrum was in attendance for the competition and was amazed with the level of swimming. “All these swimmers can really hold water, the racing was incredible, what an experience.”
