Killarney Swimmers Take 9 Gold at JP Fiset

The Olympian Swim Club Hosted the Annual JP Fiset Competition last weekend in Edmonton.  The meet attracted over 500 swimmers from AB, BC, and SK.  Killarney sent a contingent of 22 swimmers.

The team continued to have a hot December of racing!  Killarney swimmers posted 119 best times and earned 16 medal placings, including 9 Gold!

Leading the team was Sophie Holowaychuk.  Holowaychuk claimed gold in five events; 50 Fly, 100 BK, 400 IM, 200 BK, and 50 BK (12 & Under Category).  She also picked up a bronze medal in the 100 Fly.

Sophie Shpak (11), breaststroke sensation swept the stroke category. Gold in the 50, 100, and 200 events.

Twelve-year-old, Posie Payette was the top finisher in the 400 Freestyle.  Payette also earned Silver in the 200 Free.

Sean Piatek was the top male swimmer for Killarney.  Piatek finished with a 2nd place in 50 Breast, and 3rd place in 100 Free.

Rounding out the Medal haul were Samantha Thistle ( Bronze 200 BR and 100 BR) and Evelyn Washbrook (Silver 50 Fly).
