KSC Opens up Long Course Season with Impressive Results

The Killarney Swim Club has been busy kicking off the Long Course season.  Over the last 3 weeks the team has been in action at 5 competitions!!!  Another great start to the Long Course Season!!!

A contingent of five swimmers competed at the PCS Wavemaker in Victoria, April 19-21.  This group has their eyes on qualifying for the Canadian Olympic Trials.  The group managed to go 1/5 with a few close calls. Alan Piatek broke the club record for 15–17-year-old and punched his ticket to Olympic Trials in the 100 Fly.  The team took to the podium 11 times.  Olivia Hatch won Gold in the 50 FR. Balazs Moldovan won double gold in the 50 Fly and 50 Back. He backed it up with Silver in the 50 Free.  Charlie Trofimuk was perfect performing personal best times he stepped on the block (6/6).

On the same weekend, KSC had 44 swimmers racing at the CP Chinook.  The team posted 175 best times, 41 Medals including 19 Gold, and 4 Club Records.

  • Gold Medalist – Molly Fleming (400 FR, 100 BR), Matea Gigovic (50 FR & Eliminator), Alyssa Guterson (50 BK), Sophie Holowaychuk (50 FR & Eliminator, 400 FR, 100 Fly), Brookin Rideout (400 FR, 100 FR), Evelyn Washbrook (50 Fly, 50 BR, 100 BK, 100 FR), Soren Young (200 BR).

On Thursday April 25th, the Club Hosted a single session KSC Olympic Trials! The last chance for swimmers to qualify for the Swimming Canada Olympic Trials.  Charlie Trofimuk swam the 100 BR in a time of 1:07.54 and punched his ticket to Olympic Trials! 

April 27 and 28, had the Juniors and Intermediates competing at the UCSC Spring Start Up.  The club was represented by 59 swimmers.  KSC swam lights out posting 301 personal best times!   There were 60 Medals won including 18 gold.

This past weekend KSC was ripping it up at the LASC Spring Challenge, Lethbridge.  The club was represented by 40 swimmers.  The team posted 132 best times and an amazing 80 Medals! 21 times Killarney swimmers took Gold!
